Section III BEHAVIORAL RULES FOR VISITORS ON SKI SLOPES

Rule 1 – Respect others Skiers or snowboarders must behave in a way that does not endanger or harm others.

Rule 2 – Control of speed and direction Skiers or snowboarders must move in a controlled manner. Their speed and manner of descent must match their personal abilities and the prevailing conditions: visibility on the slope, slope condition, snow quality, weather conditions, and the number of people on the slope.

Rule 3 – Choosing a direction Skiers or snowboarders should choose trails that match their physical abilities and technical preparation. Skiers or snowboarders approaching from behind must choose their direction of travel in such a way as to not endanger those ahead.

Rule 4 – Overtaking Overtaking must only be done when there is sufficient space for the maneuver near the overtaken skier or snowboarder, without creating interference with other traffic participants.

Rule 5 – Entering, starting movement, and moving along the slope Skiers or snowboarders ascending or descending the slope on foot should use the edge of the trail. Skiers or snowboarders entering the slope or starting to move after stopping must ensure that they can do so without creating a danger to themselves or others.

Rule 6 – Stopping on the slope Except in cases of emergency, skiers or snowboarders should avoid stopping on the slope in blind spots, narrow places, at intersections of trails, and on exits. After falling in such places, a skier or snowboarder should clear the slope as quickly as possible.

Rule 7 – Pedestrian ascent or descent During a forced pedestrian descent/ascent, skiers or snowboarders should keep to the outer edge of the trail.

Rule 8 – Obey signs and markings Skiers or snowboarders must comply with the directions of warning and prohibitory signs, as well as the instructions of the ski patrol service.

Rule 9 – Assistance Skiers or snowboarders must provide first aid to the injured in an accident if they have the appropriate training and/or skills.

Rule 10 – Identification Skiers or snowboarders, whether witnesses or participants in an accident, regardless of their guilt, must provide their details to other witnesses/participants of the incident and to ski patrol inspectors, and if necessary, provide testimony.
