Switzerland – April 17, 2024
We are proud to announce our debut in the Swiss Snow Happening 2024, a prestigious annual event held in Switzerland from April 8 to April 12, 2024. The Swiss Snow Happening, which first took place in 2002, gathers Swiss and international winter sports instructors to demonstrate their skills and compete across various disciplines.
This year, the event was hosted at the Arosa ski resort, featuring more than 70 teams from countries including Switzerland, Andorra, and others. Our team, having trained under Swiss coaches for several years, was honored with an invitation from the event organizers. We arrived a week early to train with Swiss coach Werner Elmer, focusing on refining our techniques in giant slalom, ski cross, demo, moguls, and freestyle.
The competition saw participation from over 2,500 instructors. Our team from Kyrgyzstan competed in events such as giant slalom, big air, telemark, ski cross, demo, moguls, and cross-country skiing. Our involvement in the Swiss Snow Happening 2024 was supported by Swiss ski schools in Arosa, Corvatsch, and Bivio, the Swiss project Sustainable Winter Tourism Development in Kyrgyzstan (WTK) of Helvetas, and the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kanat Myrzabek uulu, Chairman of AILS, expressed the significance of this milestone: “Participating in the Swiss Snow Happening 2024 was a monumental end to our 2023–2024 winter season. This incredible opportunity not only enhanced our instructional skills but also inspired us to organize similar events in Kyrgyzstan. We are determined to promote winter sports and tourism domestically, leveraging our experiences in Switzerland. We are immensely grateful to all our partners whose support made this remarkable experience possible.”
The successful participation of our instructors at the Swiss Snow Happening 2024 marks a significant step forward for skiing and tourism in Kyrgyzstan, fostering further growth and development of the sport within our country.
